Right when I started a career in accounting, I required assurance. Growing up in a single-parent working-class household my childhood taught me to buckle down and deal with life situations as they come. However, I thought nothing of it until I started my first office job in the city. I knew nothing of the rules or the guidelines of the corporate world, this is the reason why I believe schools should re-focus work experience tailoring it to a career path that will give young people a more realistic perspective of what to expect. Nonetheless, lucky for me I had support from amazing women who also worked in the same field and gave me the mentorship that I needed to help me to build self-confidence in my ability to further my career, and ultimately, to develop my transferrable skills. They allowed me to get involved in complex work, which taught me the significance of self-belief to continue to pursue a career in Accountancy and Finance. I have worked in the Real Estate finance industry for 10 years. During this time, I was able to complete my BSc in Business and Information Systems and gain an MSc in Professional Accounting, with ongoing training in the area of accountancy and HR. This has enabled me to navigate my career path, from starting out in 2010 in a voluntary role, working for a small family firm to now being the owner of a business.
The idea of ITAAR Recruitment Agency came about whilst I was studying my masters in 2019. However, the business was set-up in March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
